"D" Stands for Devin
That's Jerry Titus of Sports Car Graphic behind the wheel of a Devin D, slightly above Riverside Raceway in California.
Jerry was the author of "D" Stands for Delightful in the May, 1961 issue of SCG. A reprint of that comprehensive road test
was ordered, presumably by Bill Devin, to promote the new VW or Porsche-powered Devin D. Both the article and the reprint
had the photograph of the airborne D, one of Bills favorite pictures. He had a huge framed print of that black & white photograph
on the wall behind his desk with may more Devin car photos surrounding it.
Bill often recycled material, consequently the picture was used again, this time to promote Devin bodies, Ak Miller's successes at
Pike's Peak, and the new Corvair-powered Devin C.

AK Miller Specials
AK miller won Pikes Peak class "C" in his Devins 6 times 1958 thru 1966 and was a Devin Dealer.
The AK Miller "427" car pictured is a 1962 car built by AK Miller when he was employed by Ford and they asked him to change the engine from a GM. So he did, in the pits at Pikes Peak. The 1958 Devin began as car # 11 chevy engine later became car # 111, Olds engine. The next Devin car # 187 (I think my car may be the #187 car) it only ran 2 races and was pulled for chassis reasons. The next Devin was car # 311 Chevy and Olds engines. The next Devin became Devin car # 427.
All but 187 ran and won C class Pikes Peak. AK raced a Devin in 34 SCCA races. -Chris Wright

Dean Moon Specials
Dean Moon's, Moon Beam also ran in 1959 at a lesser speed 169.81 mph in 1960 Dean went on to set a new one way record of 202 but failed to set a new 2 way record and join the 200 mph club. Because, he blew the engine. His power-train was a worked Chevy block with Potvin supercharger. -Chris Wright
